An Open Letter To Neal Knox:

Mr. Knox,

Call off your supporters. The elections are over and with the losses of Carone and Fezell,
along with the election of Ross to a mere one-year term, any further division of the NRA
Board of Directors will only serve to harm the association and the membership.

It is time to mend whatever fences are left and move ahead with the only agenda that
counts, that of protecting the Second Amendment. Already there are those in Congress who
are beginning to wonder if they should support an organization that is in an apparent self-
destruct mode. We are in real danger of losing the support of good folks such as Bob Barr
because of the dissension within our ranks.

The voting membership has spoken, Mr. Knox. They obviously do not support your agenda
and proved as much by unseating some of your most outspoken supporters. The issues of
who did what are no longer as important as who will rebuild an NRA that has been rendered
impotent by internal hatred and viciousness.

The past year has been like another Civil War, with brother fighting brother. Long standing
friendships have been irrevocably damaged and other relationships have been strained to the
point of being destroyed. And the net result of all of this turmoil? Nothing.

Net, the NRA has lost. Some very good board members have resigned due to the
contention and it will take years to heal the wounds that have been inflicted during this time,
if indeed the wounds can ever be healed at all. Confidence in the ability of the NRA to serve
as the first wave against the likes of Charles Schumer and Sarah Brady has been eroded and
the media has been having a field day with the strife in our ranks. End this destructive
foolishness before the May meeting begins.

The anti-gun establishment has been watching the struggle with glee, all the while
marshaling its own forces for a giant assault against our right to keep and bear arms. The
NRA has been virtually frozen since this debacle started, with nothing or nearly nothing
getting done. Staff has been coerced into complacency, much energy that would have been
better spent fighting our real enemies has been expended on useless crusades and what
friends we have left on the hill are wondering if they should hook up to a wagon that
doesnt have a team of horses that can get along, let alone pull the damn wagon!

Mr. Knox, to allow your supporters to continue their venomous attacks will only bring
further shame to the NRA membership. Stop this quest for reform while we still have
time. Tell your people to stand down and let us find another, more peaceful, solution to the
problems facing the NRA. The voting membership has made its decision, Mr. Knox and it is
clear that they do not agree with your vision of what the NRA should look like.

Only you can bring this a stop. The others involved are ready for this to end. The
membership is ready for this to end. The firearms owners of America are ready for this to
end. Only the gun grabbers are hoping that the war within NRA will continue.

I ask you Mr. Knox, who are you going to satisfy? Them or us?

Jeff Dissell
